Scandinavian Surface AS
Ann-Tove Engenes, Kristine Dybwad, Katrine Nylund and Åsne Midtgarden are all designers in the company that was started in 2004.
By then all had been working for about 10 years as artists after finishing MA studies at The National College of Art in Bergen,
at the Departement of Textile.
In Scandinavian Surface they wanted to persue a growing interest in working with design,
and establish a common platform where ideas could come to life. Scandinavian Surface is located in Bergen.
Steep mountains, a million rhododendhron flowers, dramatic coastline, sparkling locals,
cascades of rain and rare outbursts of sudden sunshine; we find these conditions brilliant for developing new designs.
Photographing and studying the shapes and delicate colours of nature. Finding patterns and beauty in torn and withered flora.
Memorizing the excitement of getting a glimpse of a moose or an eagle. Always seeking to capture the Norwegian freshness,
we transform it into decorative “pieces” of Scandinavian surface.
Scandinavian Surface has been focusing on working with walls, using artistic skills to make walls alive and communicating spaces.
Balancing harmony and dynamic vigour creating great living rooms.
